Good environment, 3 shifts were worked, everyone worked as a team depending on tasks, it was union and if you did your job on time and completed tasks, you were consider a good worker, management has changed but some good some bad. They will pay you very well to spend time away from your family. If you don't like to go to work then go somewhere else because you won't make it here.
You are ya expected to be like a robot. Instead of getting pay raises they take money back. Used to be a good paying job with good benefits but no more. If you make one mistake they will hold it against you for 5 years. I would not recommend this job for a family man. When you are needed, they need you, and when you're not, they don't care 1 bit about your welfare.
They job pays very well, but in reality has not kept up with inflation or cost of living increases relative to the job. You will be treated as "meat in the seat" and that's it. Morale is absolutely horrendous. Management is a joke.

I worked some of the worst jobs cleaning moldy grain from boxcars to developing and managing a system-wide operator's training programs, coordinated safety programs, interacted with customers and executives, rode trains across the most beautiful country in the world.
Yes, you can miss a lot of family events - and that is where seniority comes in After gaining enough seniority, most crafts allowed job flexibility while still maintaining high earnings. But, one always needs a backup skill for the vagaries of modern railroading.

Before this overpass was built, Ogden joined Cicero Avenue south of the tracks, used the Cicero Avenue underpass, then headed east again. In the aerial below, we can see they have built the piers red rectangles and the embankment and steel girders for the western approach yellow rectangle.
They also seem to be constructing the truss on the approach to then move east over the piers. I have not been able to determine why this bridge was torn down. Was it a clearance issue for autoracks and double-stack containers or did the state let the bridge rot away?
Jerry's photo above shows that it had four lanes, which is the current capacity of Ogden. Labels: bridgeTrussrrCBaQ. Unknown August 27, at PM. Anonymous January 23, at PM. Newer Post Older Post Home. Subscribe to: Post Comments Atom.
